About RateIt
Why this exists
Pakistan has a trust problem online. Every year, people lose enormous sums to scams, fake sellers, and reviews that were bought rather than earned. If you have ever hesitated before paying an online seller you did not know, you already understand the problem. The reviews cannot be trusted, so nothing can.
RateIt was built to fix that one thing: to make it possible to check a business before you trust it, and to make honest reviews count for more than fake ones. We treat verification as the whole product, not a feature, because in a market where fake reviews are manufactured at scale, proof is the only thing worth building on.
What we believe
Trust has to be earned, and it cannot be sold. No business can pay to remove a bad review or buy a better score. The moment trust is for sale, it is worthless. We will not cross that line, ever.
Honest reviews deserve protection. A real account of a bad experience is exactly what a platform like this should carry, and we defend it. What we remove is fake content, in either direction, and content that breaks the law.
Proof beats opinion. Anyone can type a review. Far fewer can show a receipt or a tracking number. By building around proof, we make honesty the easier path.
Businesses deserve a voice, not a veto. A business can respond to any review and add its side, but it cannot delete what a customer wrote.
Who is behind RateIt
RateIt is founded and operated by Hasan Saleem, a Pakistani entrepreneur who has been building web properties since 2007.
Hasan is the founder of DSS Media, a portfolio of digital products and publications. His work spans business directories, software, and publishing, including DirJournal, one of the longest running independent business directories on the web, and ComplyZen, a compliance platform. He writes on technology, search, and the web for major business publications, with bylines in Forbes, Fast Company, Entrepreneur, and Benzinga.
He built RateIt because he watched the same scam stories repeat across Pakistan, and because the tools people had to protect themselves were either spam, abandoned, or quietly for sale. He works between Dublin and Lahore, and built RateIt for the Pakistani market first, with the people who get scammed most in mind.
RateIt is operated as a registered business based in Lahore, Pakistan, and runs under Pakistani law, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.
