These terms govern your use of RateIt, a consumer trust and review platform operated from Lahore, Pakistan. Read them before you use the service. By creating an account, writing a review, claiming a business, or otherwise using RateIt, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who operates RateIt

RateIt is operated by RateIt, a sole proprietorship based in Lahore, Pakistan ("RateIt", "we", "us"). You can reach us at info@rateit.pk. Disputes, complaints, and content removal requests go to complaints@rateit.pk and are handled under our Content Policy.

RateIt operates the website at rateit.pk and any associated services. We are a Pakistani service governed by the laws of Pakistan.

2. What RateIt is

RateIt lets people check and review businesses, both physical businesses and online sellers, so that consumers can decide who to trust before they pay. Reviews on RateIt are submitted by users. We apply verification, fraud detection, and moderation, but a review reflects the experience and opinion of the person who wrote it, not a statement by RateIt.

RateIt is a platform. We are not a party to any transaction between a user and a business. We do not sell the products or services that businesses on RateIt offer, we do not guarantee any business, and we do not endorse any review.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and write reviews. By using RateIt you confirm that you meet this requirement.

You sign in using a one time code sent to your phone number or email. You are responsible for keeping access to that number or email secure. Activity that occurs through your account is your responsibility.

Your public identity on RateIt is a system generated handle, not your real name. We keep your phone number and any other sensitive details private and do not display them publicly. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

4. The rules for writing reviews

When you write a review you agree that:

The review describes your own genuine experience with the business. You may not write about an experience you did not have.

You will not write a review for a business you own, control, work for, or are related to, and you will not write reviews on behalf of a competitor to harm them. Reviews exchanged for payment, discounts, or other incentives are prohibited unless the incentive is clearly disclosed and permitted under our Community Guidelines.

Any proof you submit, such as a consignment number, a transaction reference, or a receipt, is true and relates to your own dealing with the business.

Your review does not contain content prohibited by our Content Policy, including unlawful content, content that is false, and content that violates the law of Pakistan.

You own or have the right to post the content you submit, including any photos.

You understand that reviews are public, may be shared, and may remain on RateIt even after you stop using the service, subject to the deletion and anonymisation terms below.

5. The license you give us

When you submit a review, photo, or other content, you keep ownership of it. You grant RateIt a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free license to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and distribute that content as part of operating and promoting the service. This license lets us show your review on business pages, in search, in shared links, and in our own marketing of the platform. The license continues for content that remains on RateIt after your account is closed, in the anonymised form described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Verification and trust scores

RateIt assigns proof tiers to reviews and computes a trust score for businesses based on factors including the proof behind reviews, reviewer reputation, recency, and review volume. These are our own editorial and analytical assessments. A trust score is an opinion formed from data, not a statement of fact about a business, and it can change as new information arrives.

We do not sell trust scores, review visibility, or ranking. A business cannot pay to remove a negative review, raise its score, or rank higher. Paid business features, where offered, never include control over reviews or scores.

We may withhold a numeric trust score until a business has enough verified reviews to make the score meaningful.

7. For businesses

A business can claim its profile after verifying control of the business. A claimed business may respond to reviews and add information, but cannot delete or alter reviews written by users. A business that believes a review breaks the law or our Content Policy may dispute it through the process in our Content Policy.

Listing a business on RateIt, including as an empty unclaimed profile, does not imply any relationship between RateIt and that business, and does not imply that RateIt endorses or vouches for it.

8. Content that is not allowed

You may not use RateIt to publish content that is unlawful under Pakistani law, including content prohibited by the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 as amended in 2025. This includes content that is defamatory, that constitutes false information, that incites hatred or violence, that infringes others' rights, or that is otherwise prohibited by our Content Policy. The Content Policy forms part of these terms.

9. Removal, suspension, and our role under PECA

We may remove content, suspend accounts, or refuse service where content breaks these terms, our Content Policy, or the law, or where we are required to act by a lawful order.

Pakistani law, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act as amended in 2025, places obligations on online platforms regarding unlawful content and gives designated authorities the power to require removal of content within set timeframes. Where we receive a lawful order from a competent authority such as the Social Media Protection and Regulatory Authority, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, the Federal Investigation Agency, or a court, we will act on it as required by law. Our acting on such an order is not an admission that the content was unlawful, and we will, where lawful and practical, tell the affected user.

10. Your own legal responsibility

You are responsible for what you post. Pakistani law can impose civil and criminal liability on a person who publishes unlawful content, including defamatory content and false information. Writing a review that is knowingly false, or that defames a business or person, can expose you to legal action and to penalties under Pakistani law. Write honestly, write only about your own experience, and keep your proof.

11. Disclaimers

RateIt is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or secure, and we do not warrant the accuracy of any review or trust score, since reviews are user generated and scores are analytical opinions.

We are not responsible for your dealings with any business listed on RateIt. Any transaction you enter into with a business is between you and that business.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Pakistani law, RateIt and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, from any review or trust score, or from any dealing with a business listed on RateIt. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Pakistani law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify RateIt against claims, losses, and costs, including reasonable legal costs, arising from content you submit that breaches these terms, our Content Policy, or the law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service and the law change. The law that governs online platforms in Pakistan is itself evolving, including ongoing changes to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users. Continuing to use RateIt after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. The courts at Lahore have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of RateIt, subject to any mandatory forum set by Pakistani law for a particular kind of dispute.
