This page explains how RateIt decides what to trust, how our verification and scores work, and the promises we make to you. We put this in plain language because a trust platform that hides how it works does not deserve the name.
The problem we exist to solve
Online scams cost people in Pakistan enormous sums every year, and fake reviews are part of the machinery. A glowing five star rating means nothing if it was bought. A pile of one star attacks means nothing if a competitor wrote them. The whole review economy has a trust problem, and most review sites have not solved it.
RateIt is built on one idea: a review is only worth as much as the proof behind it. So we treat verification as the product, not a feature.
How verification works
When someone writes a review, we ask them to show proof of their dealing with the business. Depending on what they can show, the review earns a proof tier:
A review backed by strong proof, such as a tracked order, a payment reference, or a receipt, sits at a higher tier. A review from a verified account with no transaction proof sits lower. An unverified review sits lowest.
We store the proof privately. The public sees that a review is verified and at what tier, but not your receipt or your order number. The verification is visible; the private details stay private.
How the trust score works
A business's trust score is not a simple average of stars. It is computed from several factors: the proof tiers behind its reviews, so verified reviews count for more; the reputation of the reviewers; how recent the reviews are; and the volume of reviews, so that a single review cannot swing a score. We apply statistical smoothing so that a business with very few reviews is not unfairly ranked high or low on thin evidence.
A trust score is our analytical opinion formed from this data. It is not a guarantee, and it can change as new, verified information arrives. Where a business has too few verified reviews for a score to mean anything, we show that honestly instead of inventing a number.
These methods are calibrated against real data over time. As we learn, we tune them, and we will keep this page updated so you know how the score is formed.
The promises we make
We never sell trust. No business can pay to remove a review, hide a review, raise its score, or rank higher. Review visibility and trust scores are not for sale, at any price. This is the line that makes RateIt worth using, and we will not cross it.
Businesses cannot delete reviews. A business can claim its profile, respond to any review in public, and dispute a review it believes is unlawful or breaks our Content Policy. It cannot delete or edit what a customer wrote. A business gets a voice, not a veto.
We protect honest negative reviews. An honest account of a bad experience is exactly what we are here to carry. We will defend it. What we remove is fake content, positive or negative, and content that breaks the law.
We fight fakes actively. Every review is moderated before it publishes, combining automated checks, AI assisted authenticity assessment, and detection of duplicate and coordinated reviews. We hold suspicious content for a person rather than publishing it. We guard against review bombing and extortion, where a flood of fake negatives is used to pressure a business.
We keep your sensitive data private. Your phone number, your proof artifacts, and your fraud signals are not public, and access to the most sensitive records is restricted and logged. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full.
We obey the law, and we tell you so. RateIt operates from Pakistan and within Pakistani law, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. Where a competent authority lawfully orders us to remove content, we comply, and where we can, we tell the affected user. We explain this openly in our Content Policy rather than burying it.
What we ask of you
Write honestly. Review only what you experienced. Bring your proof. Treat businesses fairly, and let them respond. The platform is only as trustworthy as the people on it, and built honestly, it protects everyone, the consumer who wants to know who to trust, and the honest business that has been undercut by fakes.
